Everyone Who Has Thrifty Parents and Older Siblings Remembers the Dreaded Hand-Me-Downs
It was that horrible time when your parents made you wear your older sister or brother’s shirt that had long since gone out of style. Well, no longer is the age of hand-me-downs. Now, milennials, who update their computers, phones, and tablets at an all time high rate, are giving their old technology to their parents.
Moms, dads, aunts, uncles, and grandparents alike are less keen on throwing away a perfectly operable piece of technology. It is the younger generation that feels more of a need to update and upgrade as the newest and best are made available. Along with gaining iPhone3’s, old laptops, the original iPad and Kindle, the older generation is learning how everything works. There is a knowledge sharing that is taking place as well as a technology swap.
With technology changing faster than ever, the idea makes sense as parents struggle to keep up with their technology-driven children. What technology have you received as a hand-me-up? Or, what have you given away to a relative so that you can make an upgrade? Let us know in the comments below.
