Devon IT Announces Weekly Virtual Desktop (VDI) Twitter Chat Discussions

King of Prussia, PA – September 10, 2012.  Devon IT, a leader in thin client software, hardware, and cloud computing, is announcing today that they will be hosting weekly Twitter chats focused on Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI).   A variety of topics including successful implementations, challenges, techniques, and software will be covered.  Participants will provide their latest news, ask questions related to the topic, and offer expert advice for anyone with questions.  The discussions will be interactive. Devon IT encourages everyone who joins to participate by discussing their VDI experiences, thoughts on the topic, general input, as well as feedback to questions and comments posted by others.

“Organizations using VDI typically have questions and also want to gain new experiences while implementing best practices,” explained Joe Makoid, President, Devon IT. “These new Twitter Chat discussions, focused on VDI, are one way to help people directly involved with VDI share their experiences, ask questions, and gain insight into how virtual desktops are being used in today’s cloud computing environment.”

Twitter chats are a new way for a large number of users to participate together in a worldwide discussion over Twitter.  Anyone who wants to join the VDI tweet chat can simply log into their existing Twitter account and use the #VDIChat hashtag to view what people are saying and participate in the discussion.   To gain the full benefits of the overall conversation and read everyone’s tweets on the topic, go to TweetChat.com and log in with your existing Twitter account.  Then put the appropriate hashtag in the field at the top of the page.  The website will filter Twitter and display only those tweets relevant to the chat.  Lurkers can also follow the conversation on TweetChat.com without logging in.

There is no fee for the session or for using the TweetChat.com site, and anyone with an interest in VDI is welcome.  Spamming and bashing are not allowed, but we will allow participating vendors to post offers at the end of the sessions.  Devon IT along with invited guests will moderate the sessions and offer pre-published topics, but the participants will drive the conversation.  At the end of each discussion, topics for next week will be solicited.   A weekly transcript of each discussion will be published. Subsequent discussions will be scheduled weekly and announced on Twitter and the Devon IT website.

To join the kick-off discussion, log in to Twitter, visit TweetChat.com enter #VDIchat and join the conversation.  The first #VDIchat will be Tuesday, September 18 at 11:30 AM ET and will run for approximately 45 minutes.  The initial topics will include: Hurdles faced in your VDI deployments; Thin or Zero, which do you prefer?; and What hypervisor have you deployed and why?.  The moderator will be @DevonIT.
