Integrated secure application access software powers NTA Virtual Office Solution.
King of Prussia, PA, and Santa Cruz, CA, July 24, 2004 – Devon IT, the information technology products subsidiary of the Devon Group and Tarantella, the leader in secure remote access software solutions, today announced the availability of Access Express communication module for the NTA Virtual Office (NTAVO) appliance. Devon IT and Tarantella jointly developed the software for the new communication module.
The NTA Virtual Office is a turnkey remote access solution that provides enterprise customers with greater security, enhanced manageability, improved reliability, and lowers costs. The solution enables organizations to access and manage information, data and applications across all platforms, networks and devices. Using the NTAVO solution, customers realize the benefits of secure corporate data, maximizing return on existing IT assets and improved productivity.

The NTAVO Appliance is based on IBM Server/Linux technology and Access Express provides high-speed secure communication from thin client systems to enterprise-wide applications. When coupled with the NTAVO terminal, an industry-leading thin client device (priced starting at $149), customers have a fast, powerful and secure remote access system. The NTAVO solution is used by many large enterprises including some of the world’s largest banks, retail and manufacturing companies.
The NTAVO Appliance leverages Tarantella’s Secure Global Desktop Enterprise Edition to provide secure remote access to server-based applications. Devon IT’s technology integrates the Tarantella software and IBM eServers to allow the NTA appliance to be the main application proxy to all backend servers using Linux, Windows, Unix, and IBM 3270. The system supports a wide variety of standards such as Java, SSL, LDAP, SSH, RDP and X11. The three-tier architecture is engineered to stringent security requirements, while retaining flexibility, ease of use and scalability. Tarantella’s platform-independent Adaptive Internet Protocol (AIP) is used for client/server communication over a secure SSL connection delivering a data stream that is optimized to the bandwidth requirements of each client.
