Linux-Based Appliance Provides Complete Solution To Reduce IT Costs And Consolidate Infrastructure.
King of Prussia, PA, November 5, 2004 Devon IT today announced the release of the NTAVO 5.0 appliance. Based on IBM Server and Linux technology, NTAVO 5.0 enhances the ability of enterprise customers to remotely and securely access corporate resources in an affordable manner. NTAVO provides businesses of all sizes with secure remote access, effective distribution of legacy applications, simple setup and configuration, and a low total cost of ownership.
"The NTAVO Appliance solves the challenges presented by VPNs and Citrix," explained Ning Liu, President and CEO, Devon IT. "Devon IT developed NTAVO as an unobtrusive appliance that acts as an application gateway for all your Windows, X11, and 3270 applications."
NTAVO 5.0 is delivered as a server-based appliance that is ready to be installed in a data center. No software needs to be installed, and furthermore, customer does not have the added responsibility of procuring the properly configured server. Once NTAVO 5.0 is connected to a network, only a few configuration settings (setting the boxes IP address, network mask, and license key) are needed to complete the installation of the NTAVO 5.0 appliance. The user friendly administration GUI is designed so that any network engineer can easy perform the setup and configuration. This eliminates the need to have specially trained resources and allows a corporation to concentrate on its core business processes.
The NTAVO 5.0 Appliance is built on an IBM e-Server running Linux. It enables enterprises to securely extend their critical applications to remote users and strategic partners via PCs or a thin browser-based client. These applications can be Microsoft® Windows®, UNIX®, Linux®, Java&rade;, Mainframe and AS/400® applications. The NTAVO 5.0 Appliance enables enterprises to effectively restrict access to authenticated users. It can authenticate the username and password against users stored in a variety of different data stores including Unix passwords, Microsoft Active Directory, and LDAP.
"We have worked carefully to build server-based appliance that enables customers to easily implement a secure remote-access solution," commented Liu. "Using the NTAVO Appliance, customers can quickly realize the benefits of affordable, Linux-based application access."
